2011-02-06 The 63rd Annual Dinner and AGM - The First Details

MUGCR is pleased to announce the first details of the 63rd Annual Dinner and AGM, to be held on Saturday 12th March. The Dinner will be held at the Manchester Cathedral Visitors' Centre, the same place the 61st Dinner was held. Tickets will cost between £35 and £40; the exact cost is yet to be confirmed.

The AGM is going to be held immediately before the Dinner itself, and the most likely location is Sacred Trinity church, the MUGCR home tower. Final arrangements for the AGM will be announced nearer the time.

There will also be a Dinner-Day Tour through Stockport, taking place mostly in the morning. The tower list is yet to be confirmed; however, we will endeavour to get as much variety as possible.

2010-09-22 Additional Sacred Trinity Practice added

There will be an extra Sacred Trinity practice on the 28th of September, at the usual time.

2010-09-19 The Year Ahead

It's September, the students flock back to Manchester, and MUGCR is looking forward to an exciting year ahead!

Practice dates for the rest of 2010 have been added (see bottom left) - please note the new start time for the Tuesday Sacred Trinity practices is 19:00 (7pm). This is to give everyone a chance to grab a bite to eat before the practice. It also allows those who have further to travel the time to do so, to maximise the amount of ringing time people get.

Looking further ahead, we hope to run a few tours through to next summer, as well as racking up the quarter peals.

As always, the highlight of the MUGCR calendar is the annual NUA Weekend, this year being jointly held by the universities of Durham and Newcastle. It promises to be an exiting event for all, so come along, no matter what your experience :)
Covering the weekend of the 19th-21st November, the tour will take in over 10 towers in Newcastle (including a striking competition), and a to-be-anncouned number in Durham. While the evening entertainments are yet to be confirmed, we hope that tradition is observed with a barn dance and beer on tap (a tradition we started in 2005).
For all the latest details, keep an eye on Facebook.

The other highlight of the year will be in March 2011, with the 63rd Annual MUGCR Dinner and Tour. More details will follow nearer the time.

There are also a number of website enhancements planned over the coming year, including a new Trinity Calendar to replace the existing Events page. We'll also be collecting humourous quotes to be randomly displayed on various pages.

Finally, MUGCR extends a warm welcome to all Manchester students, old and new. Let's get ringing!

2010-05-02 Committee details updated

Details of the new committee, elected at the AGM, have now been added.

2010-04-22 Dinner Weekend Tour Sheet Correction

The OS reference for St Paul in Staley is incorrect - instead of SD991520 (Skipton, N.Yorks), it should be SJ972987 (Staley, G. Man).
